Jill and the Lion depicts a scene from one of C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia books, The Silver Chair. In this scene, Jill has just stepped into a magical land. After wandering she becomes incredibly thirsty. Luckily she finds a stream flowing through a wood, the only problem is that it the stream is being watched by a lion.

To her surprise the Lion speaks to her, and encourages her to drink from the stream. She is frightened, and asks the lion if he promises not to hurt her.

“I make no promise,” said the lion.

“I daren’t come and drink,” said Jill.

“Then you will die of thirst,” said the lion.
